About me
Welcome.
I became a Slovene Member of the European Parliament on 9 May 2011, the Europe Day. Ever since the first day I am aware of the great responsibility entrusted to me by the voters and by the party of Social Democrats.
In my current role in will be connecting to everyone interested in European affairs and in the work of the European parliament. In the coming three years I will be highly engaged in EU regional development, as I wish the process of the absorption of EU funds would be made easier. For this purpose we will need to simplify the administrative procedures and adopt a more goal-oriented approach.
Namely, the regions and the European funds are the driving engine of economic growth. Therefore every euro spent on development of regions improves the lives of people.
I will also devote special attention to the equality of genders and respect for human rights, since the respect of the basic values such as solidarity, social justice, freedom and equality represent the very foundations of the EU itself.
The challenges are great, but above all interesting. I therefore invite you to browse through the presentations on the content of my work on my website.
